Living in the mountains can get kind of crazy. I'm from Shelby, which is only an hour away, but it's like a completely different world sometimes. For instance, it snows and snows and snows... and SNOWS during the winter here. In Shelby, we were lucky if we saw snowflakes. This was a HUGE adjustment for me. Especially now that I pay my own heating bills, I can see how much I hate the cold. What was I thinking, moving to the frigid mountains? I had to buy an actual winter coat (and by actual winter coat I mean just a fleece North Face jacket...). My collection of tights and thick socks quadrupled. In mid-March when it hit 70, I almost cried I was so happy. I was SO ready for it to be warm again.
The very next weekend, guess what? Yep. More snow. Now, yesterday it was 80 degrees. Today, 30 and raining. This weather is driving me crazy! I can't wait for the relief that summer brings, when it is fairly consistently 70-90 degrees and sunny. What kind of climate are you looking for in your college town? Or, if you're already in Asheville, how do you feel about this crazy weather? Let us know! : )
