Education Arts Lab

As you can tell from my other blog posts, I love the arts. This semester I am taking my Education Arts Lab with Mr. Sidelnick and I just want to talk about my experience in that class. Even though the class is only a 1 credit class and 1 day a week, I look forward to going to it all the time. In this class we do crafts and learn how to do these crafts with Elementary school aged kids. The past two weeks we have been working with paintings. We each picked a painting that Mr. Sidelnick provided and looked for the artist, title of the painting, when the painting was done, and any other information provided on the painting. For our assignment that was due this week, we had to come up with questions related to our painting. We had to come up with a question dealing with Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies; then pick an elementary grade and look up a goal in the Standard Course of Study that was associated with the grade and subject.
This assignment, as well as the others we have done, have helped me understand how to approach doing these assignments with elementary kids. I enjoy this class very much and I believe it is very helpful for future elementary teachers to take as well.
