This is my first year not living in my parents house and I live twelve hours away in a different state! I never thought about living so far away from home especially for my first time living on my own but so far it has been a pretty good experience. My sister and friend moved out here with me so I do have some comforts of home. Seeing the occasional Facebook status from my sister and cousin saying they are hanging out for the day or getting together with the rest of my family makes me a little homesick but for the most part I love living out here and I especially love living on my own! I have been lucky though and have been able to go back home a couple of times during the breaks to see my family and for spring break some of the women in my family are coming to Tennessee which is close enough to drive up for a weekend and we will be able to spend some time together. Its a tradition in our family the we call "girls weekend" and we try to do it every couple of years. My classes and my new job and the great activities on campus are keeping me pretty busy which helps when I'm feeling a little homesick.
