Wow Time Flies!

Well, I can't believe it. It's already April and finals are quickly catching up to us. It feels like I just stepped on campus with all my bags ready to start college, and here I am about to finish up my first year!

Last weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to help in a fun visit for high school juniors called Roadtrip2Teach (check our Cassie's blog entry with a little more about that). As I started to talk with the students, I was remembering what it felt like when I was searching for the right college myself. While senior year was a lot of fun, it was also a lot of work: filling out applications, looking into the teacher licensure programs, applying for scholarships, and trying to keep up my grades. It's hard to believe I was in that same boat almost two years ago and now, here I am preparing to be a teacher and couldn't be happier with my choice!

I feel lucky that I found the school for me and discovered my passion for teaching so soon. I know a lot of people who have trouble not only deciding where they want to study, but what they want to study. The best advice I can give when choosing a school is to go to the place that feels right. It wasn't long after I stepped on UNC Asheville's campus that I knew where I wanted to be. When it comes to a future career, do what makes you happy. The path you choose will be one you follow for much of your life and you want to do something that feels more like fun than work. It'll take a lot of time and a little stress, but with some hard work, you can find the college and career that is best for you. Good luck!
