I was really excited about this but nervous at the same time, because I had never observed a classroom with special needs kids and was not sure how it would go. While observing these specific classrooms, I thought of how much courage and strength these teachers had, to do this job. I found it difficult to observe some of these classes and could not imagine having to teach them for several hours a day. I believe these teachers have great heart for these type of students and really try to have a close educational relationship with them.
I overall really enjoyed observing these types of classrooms because it gave me the idea of how they were run and how different they were than the normal classroom. Overall they were not ran much differently than a general education classroom. These kids had rules, procedures, guidelines, and learning outcomes/goals just like kids in the general education classroom.
Through this experience I found that teaching an entire classroom of special needs kids would not be the choice for me but it did not dampen my spirits for teaching overall.
