Feed your kids the arts!

I recently stumbled upon this idea called "Feed Your Kids the Arts." It talked about how art is very important for children to succeed and compares the need for it to the daily need of nutrition. Mentioned in this article, it said that involvement in the arts will help and has helped kids test scores become higher and it promotes academic achievement. There was statistics on kids who are involved in art and they were:
*4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement.
*3 times more likely to be elected to class offices within their schools.
*4 times more likely to participate in a math or science fair.
*3 times more likely to win an award for school attendance.
The fear is that children are not getting enough art in or out of school. There is a public service advertising campaign called "The Arts: Ask for More." It is designed to educate parents and citizens on why the arts are so important and essential to a child's education, development, and empowerment to get more kids involved in arts, both in an out of school.
