Hooray for AVID!

It's the second week of AVID and the first week of tutorials. In case you're not aware of what the acronym means, it stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. I was first introduced to this program in ED 314 last year and immediately took to the philosophy of AVID and the opportunity to work with high school students. The individuls I get to work with are definitely determined to succeed not only in school, but also in life. It's a privilege to be a part of this program and to work within my local school system. What is most rewarding to me is that students look to themselves to cooperate and come up with some great answers to level 2 & 3 questions. I look forward to working with these kids and watching them develop throughout the semester!
