However, that does not stop my professors from bombarding me with e-mails about assignments due on the first day of class. After being in a completely stress free environment for three months, I am finding it hard to adjust to the idea of going back to school for another semester. Luckily, thanks to my googling skills, I found this article about how to mentally prepare for another term in college.
How to Prepare for a New Semester
After a break between semesters, most people have to mentally prepare themselves to get back into the groove at the start of a new semester. There are several things you can do to jump start your new semester and begin your new term at school prepared for success.
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
An positive attitude for the new semester.
Step 1
Scope out a convenient place to study somewhere on campus that is free of distractions.
Step 2
Buy your books before classes begin in the new semester and go ahead and skim through them and start to read them.
Step 3
Try loose-leaf paper and binders to better organize your notes. This also makes it easy to insert class handouts right next to the page you took notes on for a particular day in class.
Step 4
Try to get to know your professors and instructors early on in the term, before you have any problems during the semester.
Step 5
Always remember to talk to your professors or instructors if you have any questions.
Step 6
On the first day of classes, get the name, phone number, and/or e-mail address of one or two of your classmates in each course if you need a study partner or so that you can get information about days you missed if your are sick or have to go out of town.
Step 7
Plan out your semester on a monthly calendar. Use the syllabus from each course to record test days and due dates of assignments, projects, and papers. Mark times for events, appointments, and vacations or holidays.
Step 8
Take time to plan know activities each week on a weekly planner. Connect this with your monthly calendar in Step 7. Assign time on the weekly planner to study and do assignments.
Step 9
Connect daily to keep up with assignments, papers, and readings for each class. Check in daily with your weekly planner. Try to identify and prioritize goals.
Step 10
Finally, and most importantly, remember to balance each area of your life - work, school, social, physical, and spiritual. This helps to reduce stress and anxiety and greatly improves academic performance. It also helps improve your overall level of health and well-being and helps you become a more well-rounded individual.

"Step 7
Plan out your semester on a monthly calendar."
I have yet to see someone doing this every beginning of the semester. But it's an ideal habit though.
Truthfully, I think some of our younger students consider themselves organized when they put on clean pants in the morning while the older students consider themselves lucky to get pants on their kids in the morning so they can come to class. College life is hectic! Do you have any suggestions for class preparation?
